Seems to be all the decent reviews on here are for location, and proximity to the beach. As for Pirates Cove itself, it leave a lot to be desired. The rooms feels dirty, and unmaintained. They are also very outdated. The individual owner we dealt with has been rude, and standoffish. I definitely do not recommend, unless you're looking for frat house spring break feel.
I am going to try at least to get some money back especially spending over two hundred dollars.
For the price of the room I was not happy. When I booked they did not say anything about the pool being down. The view was good. There was not any wash clothes. The cable kept going on and off. The bed was way to soft where you would fall in the middle. Then there was no phone in the room. Also when we left this morning early there was no drop box for the keys so we had to leave them in the gate at the desk. What hotel does not have a person or drop box for keys.
We played golf at the Pirates Cove mini-golf in Ormand Beach. We had a blast! Our kids are 7 and 5 (newly) and they loved it. However, I would not have gone there if I did not have a coupon I found on the internet for "buy one adult ticket and child gets in free," because tickets for adults were $13 a piece and $10.50 for children. So...if no coupon $47.00 + tax...seems ridiculous for one round of mini-golf with family. Really cool place though! Children,4 and
Condo hotel so each unit is individually owned and can vary greatly. The lobby is renovated and staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating. I saw my first Palmetto bug beach side, as well as smaller roaches. Management definitely needs to have more pest control as well as better wifi. Laundry area leading to pool is creepy & pool has been cold last year when I visited & again this year, even though advertised as heated, gym room is dirty & sliding doors are rusted but you can't beat the views and salt life mentality.
My family stayed in unit 614. The Oceanfront view was amazing!!! Both the bed and couch were comfortable. We had a wonderful walk on the beach and walked to a restaurant for dinner. Great location and everything is so convenient. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!
