Thankfully, one of them was available to run out to my car and do the verification, but I'm guessing that was as much out of sympathy for the uninformed out-of-stater as it was that they commonly did it.

Great guys, but look for a Sheriff's station elsewhere!
Do not go here, thinking that there is a Volusia County Sheriff's station, as noted on Google Maps. I needed to get my VIN Verification to register my car in Florida, and went there... there are, indeed, deputies there, but they are there for courthouse security, not because there is a station.
