Was with Manatee Cove Elementery School. The people who presented the educational parts of the visit did a super job.
We were very impressed with the museum. It was very clean, well lit, and comfortable to be in. There was a great assortment of items to look at. I enjoyed all of the guns, swords, cars, trains, and bottling memorabilia. I was fascinated with how Coke cola influenced the bottling company, and how it put so many people to work. I'm interested to see what they come up with the next time that we visit.
I have been bringing my son since he was 3, he is now 13. The updated look is nice, but the number of exhibits seem to have gotten smaller. Also, the Children's Museum needs serious work and updating. We haven't come here in about 2.5 years. We came hoping there was an updated Children's Museum, with new activities. Unfortunately, the Children's Museum hasn't changed significantly in the last 10 years. Many of the exhibits and activities don't work, like the Raceway. If you want to increase the number of patrons coming to the Museum, prices should be lowered and definitely work to improve the Children's area. I also don't see why an additional fee is charged for admission to the newer Art Museum.
We spent 2.5 hours in the kids portion of the museum which is amazing keeping a 1.5 year young entertained that long. I highly recommend a visit with children. I wasn't able to spend much time on the other exhibits due to being with a toddler yet at a glance I will be back for those exhibits at a later date and to visit the planetarium! Thankful for this museum we will be back.
Visit the children's area. It was fun and we spent hours there; however, lots of hands-on experiments missing items and no one even checking in to help answer any questions. We couldn't get the make your car area to work at all.
