The only question I can ask at this point is one of the Mayor. Is this how you want people to remember Daytona Beach? I have read your post about all the wonderful things you are doing to improve your city. They all seem like empty words. If you cannot keep what you bill as the most famous beach in the world a clean, safe place how can you keep the rest of your city in order?
My husband and I took our family from out of town to Daytona Beach 7 months ago.It was not a good experience. We were approached by 4 different homeless people for food and money. Now I hear a homeless shelter will be built. Will this reduce this behavior?I don't think so.
On 6/20/17 I decided to go to the beach at Daytona Beach. After parking in a nice garage I walked through an area of shops which took me to the Beach by the band shell. From there I walked south to the pier. I found it to be clean and well kept. This is where the experience turned sour, while walking from the band shell to the pier I was approached 5 times by pan handlers begging for money. The last being a man in his sixties asking if I could help an old Viet Nam Veteran.
