WOW...horrible experience.
AN SPIRITUAL PLACE IN TOWN
My wife and I have been visiting First Baptist Church of Daytona and have both commented about how friendly the church is. People are greeted and welcomed as they enter and greeted again at the Welcome Center once inside. We have been visiting a Sunday School class and are greeted and welcomed there as well. Teaching is excellent and after Sunday School is over we enter the auditorium and are greeted and handed a program then find a seat. We observe Pastor Owens shaking hands and saying a few words of greeting to those in attendance but don't get offended when he chooses another aisle to talk to people other than the aisle we are sitting in. When he does walk down our aisle he usually but not always shakes our hands and welcomes us. He does need to hurry a little so the preacher has enough time to preach so he can't shake everone's hand. I say, "keep up the good work First Daytona. Only eternity will tell of the lives touched there." David DeHaven
Good bunch of Christ centered folks. Very friendly. Lots of stuff going on for the kids. They have a large property on the west side of Daytona where they do worship under a tent but contemporary music.
Never been so insulted in my life. I was standing 1 row back from rear exit isle, a young couple in front of me to my right just a bit. The interim pastor walked by and looked towards me but never looked above my chest. I could have reached out and shook hands but he ignored me and shook the hands of the couple in front of me..
I wanted to make a comment to the office. They only wanted to talk to me through a thick glass.. talk about your basic closed minded people. No wonder there has been turmoil in the church with poor attitudes towards people in need. I had been looking for a church home but I'll stay away from these people. They should read their bible more often and get rid of the attitudes.
I visited this church today and from the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out, not one person said anything to me at all. I really didn't need them to, I wasn't there for that, it's just an observation. I am moving to the area soon and will be looking for a church. I just feel like if the church doesn't make us feel welcome that the world always will. I came alone, as my husband is back home working. We lost a young member of our family this week, which laid heavy on my heart. It would have been nice just to connect with just one person. But it's ok, I will be visiting other churches and I may return here again, we'll have to see. Thank you all for the nice memorial day service.
